Halloween School Parties

Grandma and I went to Matt’s school party in the morning.  Wearing a full tuxedo got the attention of the 3rd Grade Girls.  They thought he was pretty ‘fancy’.  We immediately had him change out of his suit since he was painting and eating messy good.  It was a good call.

The vice principal and principal always get dressed up and visit all the Halloween parties!   Love Mrs. Owen’s pregnant belly costume!

Then we headed to School in the Woods for Luke’s Party.  Grandma was especially excited to see his school. He had multiple different stations for fun Science Experiments, relay races and donut eating and so many snacks.  Love these pictures of him eating donuts – and he doesn’t even like donuts!!

Halloween

Fun to have our 4th Annual Halloween Party this year.   So many friends joined us and each brought a crockpot of soup.  We ate soup and bread, gathered for a picture and let the excited kids head off to trick or treat.  After bags were full or kids were tired they headed back our way for hot caramel apple cider and pumpkin bars.  More people stayed late than in years past.  So fun!   Meanwhile, we had Katie and Emily’s friends downstairs in the basement watching Hotel Transylvania, eating candy and playing pool.  Love to have them all at our house!

Luke and Matt’s Costumes

They had been thinking about these costumes for a long time.  Luke was determined to be Clark Kent and Matthew decided he wanted to be Bruce Wayne – not your typical Superman/Batman costumes.  Love these boys.

Megan and Lizzy’s Costumes

Megan and Lizzy were excited to be Mario and Luigi – but didn’t want to use any costume stuff we already had.  They wanted to be teen girl Mario and Luigi so we headed to Hobby Lobby to buy hats, shirts and bags and added the white foam to the hats, and made the mustaches.  They went to the Pine Creek Ward Trunk or Treat together and then Trick or Treated together on Halloween night.

Weekend with the Chuggs

We haven’t spend some good time with the Chuggs for a long time.  We’ve seen Jared and Geneva but our families have really missed each other.  We decided to hook up for a quick 36 hour mini-vacation in Provo, Utah.

Chris and the kids and I drove half way on Thursday night and stayed at our Marriott Residence Inn in Grand Junction.  We ate breakfast at the hotel and then drove the rest of the way to Provo.  We met the Chuggs  at Cubbies, a new fun restaurant with salads and sandwiches.  It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Chugg kids so even though matt and Luke have been so excited to see Cole, they didn’t know quite how to react to him.  It only took them through lunchtime to warm up to each other again.

Then we headed to Jaker’s Pumpkin Patch.  The kids ran through the corn maze, and played in the corn kernels, picked out pumpkins, and tried pumpkin spice donuts.  It was a great pumpkin patch in Mapleton.

After the pumpkin patch we checked into our hotel together.  We always have so many options for places to stay but it was really fun to spend time just with them and having it be in a hotel just made it even more fun. The little boys kept saying, this is the best Chugg Johnson vacation ever – which is pretty funny since we’ve traveled Europe together.

We left the kids at one of the rooms to play games and Jared, Geneva, Chris and I headed to Pizza Factory to pick up pizza’s for everyone.  It was fun for the four of us to have some time to talk without the kids there.  We ate pizza back at the hotel, and then headed over to the Smith Fieldhouse on BYU Campus to watch the women’s volleyball team play.  They played a really hard team and ended up losing but it was really fun to watch and cheer.

Then we headed downtown Provo to Rockwells Ice Cream and then headed back to the hotel to swim at the hotel pool until it closed at 11:00 pm.  We really packed it in!  And it was exhausting but so fun.

Saturday we slept in a bit, and met the Chugg’s downstairs for breakfast at the hotel.  Then we headed over to THE WALL, which is a cool hang out diner in the Wilkinson Center where Carter works.  Fun to see him there.  Then we headed upstairs to the BYU bookstore, back to THE WALL for lunch and then over to the stadium for the BYU football game.

It was a gorgeous day and such a fun game.   Scott, Elisha, and kids ended up meeting us there as well and were able to sit with us since the crowd was a little bit thinner than normal.  We ate mint brownies and cheered the cougars on to victory.  Boy was it fun!

After the game we went over to a park to hang out for a bit, then met Brian and Terri Breinholt at Los Hermanos and had a great time catching up with them.  We had the whole basement to ourselves pretty much and so stayed for a long time.  Finally at 9:00 we left and headed up to Grandma’s house to spend the night.
