When we got home from Hawaii, Chris had already had his last day in the Army, hadn’t been officially hired in the GS position and had a wonderful week off in between Tele Radiology night weeks. It was the first and last of those ‘between’ weeks – but he used it to work on the Hawaii video. We had such a good time – and this video helps us remember every detail. Thanks hon.

Kauai Trip–Day Seven: Shipwreck Beach Sunrise, Church and Waimea Canyon
Chris and I woke up early and headed over to Shipwreck Beach again to watch the sun rise. The sun came up right out of the ocean.
We picked up the kids and headed to church… I just can not get over the beautiful landscape everywhere you look…
We found an LDS church building and happened to attend their Ward Conference, which was great. Fun to say Aloha to the speakers and hear the birds chirping through the open windows during Sacrament Meeting. I just love this weather.
Lunch at the condo was eating absolutely everything left over in the fridge before we had to check out. We packed our bags, checked out of the condo and then headed on a drive.
This time, instead of a blank white canvas we were able to see the ‘Grand Canyon of Hawaii’ in all it’s glory. It was beautiful.
After the main lookout we went all the way to the end of the road (which we heard we were supposed to) to the Pu’u O Kila Lookout and for a walk on the Pihea Trail. The lookout was unreal. Of course the pictures don’t do it justice. It was really incredible. The view captured the Kalepa Ridge and the Na Pali coastline. I just love seeing how far the water extends. It just goes on forever.
One more lookout on our way out of Waimea Canyon State Park…
With all our bags packed and stored at the front of the Resort, we had time for dinner at Tortilla Republic before heading over to the airport. Really delicious food – and a great place to walk around.
It was so sad to leave. We had such a good time!! Our flight left at about 9:30 that night and we flew to LA and walked right off one plane and on to our next one. Most of us slept most of the time. We landed in Denver early Monday – to SNOW! Our poor little flip flop feet were freezing when we got to the van. Hot chocolate and slippers as soon as we got home.
