We slept in our first morning. Boy, is that nice. It was a day at sea. We went up and had breakfast at the Windjammer Café, then played some minigolf. Ryan and Katie took off to explore the Optix Center for teens and Chris and I headed to the workout room. After we ran for awhile we did the bike while listening to one of the fitness instructors give a class on weight loss and health. Very interesting. By the time we were showered and dressed it was time for a late lunch. We picked up Ryan and Katie from the Teen center and went to the Dining Room for lunch. Ryan got a huge plate of Caesar Salad, of course, even though he ordered one for dinner every night too. I got fish Enchiladas, which were really good, and cream of cauliflower soup – one of the best soups of the whole cruise. We sat with an Italian couple who couldn’t really understand English. We gestured and smiled and they said, “Bon Appetite” before we started eating.
After lunch we went to check out the rock wall. Chris, Ryan and Katie took turns climbing up and had a great time.
Racing to the top – using only the specific colors they were supposed to use…
Then we found a table and played Carcassonne – which is back at the top of our favorite games list since Chris got a couple of expansions for it at Christmas.
We enjoyed our first Formal Night. I think it’s so fun to get dressed up for dinner. The food was delicious.
After dinner we wandered around waiting for the show and noticed that they were playing great dancing music in the Centrum. We leaned over the balcony and Katie said, “This is the rumba.” She’s pretty good at picking up the beat and knowing what kind of dance it would be. Chris urged them to go down to the dance floor and dance to it. We stayed up on the balcony and Chris videoed them. It was fun to view from that vantage point. They did so well and it was so fun to see everyone around stop to watch. They were a hit and everyone clapped for them when they left the floor. Not that they are stunning dancers but because it’s so rare to see teens know how to dance. Chris and I headed down to sit on the couches beside the dance floor and urged them again to dance a few more times. It was a proud parent moment… quite a few people came up to congratulate them and tell them how good they were and during each dance they would tell us what amazing children we have. One person asked if we were their dance instructors. We just laughed. Several times throughout the cruise different people would say, “Ah, it’s the dancing kids.”
At 9:00 we went into the Theater for our first big show. It was a TANGO night. The Royal Caribbean dancers and two lead dancers performed multiple TANGO dances. It was impressive and the dancing was really good but the show wasn’t really that entertaining. What was entertaining was the song and dance Chris was putting on back at our room trying to mimic some of the TANGO moves he had just seen. I was dying laughing. So hysterical. Love you, honey.
