Easter

Because of a recent Budapest trip and friends coming and Spring Break on the horizon,  Easter didn’t get quite as much celebration around here as normal.  Both the spiritual and the bunny was a little lacking.  I had good intentions of taking the week before to learn about the events leading up to the Savior’s crucifixion and resurrection but instead we just posted some of the gospel art pictures up on our FHE board and talked about them whenever we got the chance.  One day I was explaining about the Resurrection to Luke – that he ‘came back to life’, and will live forever with Heavenly Father.   Luke said, “Wow.  I wish my whole family and me could be Esurrected.”   Just imagine Luke’s eyes widening with shock when I said, “Luke, we can!”  So cute.

In the baskets, candy, candy and an iTunes gift card for everyone.  They were hidden all over the house so the kids really had fun trying to find theirs and give hints to the others.  It was fun – but since it was a Fast Sunday (because of Conference the next week) the kids stuck their baskets high up on the kitchen cupboards and waited until after church to eat anything. 

Church is from 1:30 to 4:30 this year and ever since Chris has been the Bishop we’ve been having Ward ‘Break the Fast’ on Fast Sundays immediately after church.   They’ve been so well attended and so much fun with lots of great food.  Today we had a big Easter Feast as a ward.  The bishopric did the hams and everyone brought potato sides and salads.  So fun to spend the day with our friends.  

When we got home that evening the kids finally got to eat some candy.

 

The next night we finally got around to coloring some eggs.  Love doing that around here..  {Side note:  You can buy pre-colored hard boiled eggs in the German grocery stores – but they are on the shelves – not in the fridge.  You don’t have to keep the eggs in the fridge because the quality of the eggs (and chickens and farms where they’re grown) are so much better quality. }
