Megan’s Baptism

Megan's Baptism -16

Megan and I spent one night last week taking Baptism pictures at Draper Park.  It was just the two of us and that seems rare these days.  She was so happy to have my undivided attention.  She is such a fun, happy girl.  I can’t believe she is growing up so fast.  She is my third and last girl to wear this very same baptism dress… and she loved wearing it.

Megan’s birthday was in April and we debated about having her baptized in Germany but decided we’d wait the three months to have her baptized in Utah where Chris’ family and some of my family could be there – which was wonderful.

She got baptized at the Stake Center right around the corner from Grandma and Grandpa’s building – the same building that Katie got baptized in – probably the same baptism dress as well.

Baptism Day program-3

Megan asked Uncle Scott and Aunt Nikole to give the Baptism and Holy Ghost talks and they did such a great job.  Uncle Mike and Aunt Ashlyn gave prayers.  It was so nice to have family fill up the program.

Megan was smiling all morning long awaiting her special day.  Dad and I sat on either side of her as the program started and I immediately got choked up.  I’m so grateful to have the blessings of the gospel and to share Megan’s special day with family and friends was very special.  Megan was baptized by her Dad.  I watched and then quickly went back to help her out of the font.  She was absolutely beaming when she saw me and with tears in my eyes I told her that I was so proud of her and that I was going to remember this special moment always.   We got her wet clothes off and into another white dress.  Meanwhile everyone watched a slideshow that Chris put together of pictures of her growing up.  After Scott’s talk on the Holy Ghost Megan was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  In the circle was Chris, Grandpa Johnson, John, Kyle, Rob, Scott, Mike and Friends: Brian Breinholt, Doug White, Sam Aston, and Dave Peterson.

Megan remained standing to bear her testimony.  She began by being thankful that she could be baptized and that everyone could be there with her and then she got choked up.  She glanced my way with tears in her eyes, gave me a smile and shrugged her shoulders, and then continued with her heart-felt testimony.  It was another high light of the day.  What a sweetheart.  We love our Megan.

After the service was over we grabbed our yellow roses and pictures of sweet Megan and headed back to Chris’ parents home for lunch.  We had stuff to make sandwiches, quite a few salads and yellow lemonade with gray striped straws.  I didn’t get any pictures of the luncheon as we were busy talking with everyone.  It really was such a great day.

We love our Megan.

Baptism Day-5

The Walton side of the family… so nice that Scott and Elisha live in Utah and could come for Megan’s big day.   And it was so great that Mike would come up from Arizona to be with as well.  Love being with family!!
