A Night in Paris

We left at 8:30 in the morning and made it ‘almost’ to Paris by 12:30.  Then it took us 2.5 hours to go the next 11 km – (with no other options – we tried)    Instead of going into Paris we were trying to go around Paris to our hotel in Versailles and the traffic was horrible.  Boy was it frustrating.  As soon as we passed the exit where everyone was headed north into Paris the rest of the 10 km was done in about 5 minutes.   We checked into the hotel … ‘Hotel du Cheval Rouge’    -- which states it used to be old Versailles stables in a previous life.  We had decided to add on ‘A Night in Paris’ to our itinerary a little late but aside from some really creaky floors this was a cheap (for Paris) available option really close to Versailles and it worked out well.

We walked to the train station and bought tickets into Paris.  20 minutes later we we staring at the Notre Dame.  Chris’ parents flew into Paris a few days earlier and were enjoying the Montmartre area while we headed onto Ile St. Louis for the gelato shop that we love there.

 

Luke sometimes gets so excited that he grabs Matthew’s face and smooshes his face into his.  Looks like Matthew is trying to strangle him here but it usually is an endearing little exchange that only sometimes ends in Matthew screaming.

After gelato we headed back towards Notre Dame and found Grandma and Grandpa! So fun to meet them in Paris!

From there we grabbed Grandma and Grandpa’s luggage and headed to the Eiffel Tower.  My kids were so excited to see the Eifel tower again.   Paris is definitely one of the girls favorite European places – mine too.  The Eiffel Tower is just fun.  Chris and I were there a year ago but the kids hadn’t been since the previous October and were so excited to be back.    

  

We got perfectly wonderful chocolate strawberry and cream crepes by the Eiffel Tower and then sat down on the grass to enjoy them.
