We left Versailles, picked up Grandma and Grandpa’s rental car and headed north west for Honfleur. We booked the cutest little hotel… Hotel Monet high up in the hills. It was motel style and each room led out into the courtyard. We had cute tables, chairs, and lounge chairs (or ‘relaxing chairs’ as Luke puts it) just outside each room. Fabulous little place to stay for the night. For this hotel Grandma and Grandpa had their own room (left), and then we let the four big kids have their own room (on the right). They loved that.

From our hotel we hiked about ten minutes to a viewpoint of the city.
From there we walked along the ridge of the hilltop to an old church with a view of the Seine River heading into the English Channel. Then we walked down into the town.

The streets and courtyards were beautiful. I love the French half timbered houses and all the colored doors. Lots of intricate iron work and always the doorknobs in the middle of the door. Love that.
The Honfleur harbor was just beautiful. I loved it. We walked around one side and stopped at an outdoor café, sat at a table right by the water and ordered hot dogs and crepes.
Mine was delicious.
After enjoying the Honfleur harbor for a couple hours we wandered through town, went to the grocery store and bought magnum bars to eat on the way home.
After spending some time hanging out in the hotel and putting the kids to bed, Chris and I wandered back down to the Harbor to walk around. It was perfect temperature and without kids it was a quick walk from our hotel. Like I said before, this whole ‘teenager babysitting on vacation’ thing is pretty sweet.
