Right outside our hotel in Versailles was a busy market square. We wandered though to check out the fresh produce, beautiful flowers, chicken sold WITH feet, and ended up buying some baguettes. Chris bought me some pain du chocolate – fresh croissants filled with chocolate, which I slipped into my jacket pocket and enjoyed all morning. Our group sure loves the baguettes too.

By the time we walked the couple blocks to the Versailles Palace it was raining pretty bad. We popped open our umbrellas and got in the entry line, which snaked around in the courtyard but seemed to move along ok. Megan and Emily were funny sitting on these posts and then moved to the next post every few minutes.

After the tour we found a bench to sit on and ate some snacks. Then we headed back towards the gardens.
It was really raining at this point so we decided to take the little train ride around the gardens just so we’d be covered. We ate some more chips, rode down to the grand canal and back up to the palace.

We walked back to the hotel, took naps and showers and enjoyed a lazy couple of hours. Then Chris went and got pizza for the kids and then Del, Shelley, Chris and I walked to a Thai Place for dinner. So nice that we have kids old enough to babysit on vacation. It was great Thai food and nice to be away just the four of us.
