I love being at the beach. I don't love packing for the beach, hauling everything through the sand to get to the beach, changing diapers at the beach, trying to clean up and pack up to leave the beach or cleaning up the van after the beach... but I sure do love BEING at the beach. There is something just mesmerizing about the water crashing onto the sand... especially here in Destin. Gorgeous turquoise blue water and white sand. It's picture perfect.
We spent a few days on our vacation playing at the beach. We set up a big tent and a few umbrellas which gave us great shade. We had a cooler full of ice cold drinks, tons of beach toys, frisbees, footballs, two body boards, a skim board and plenty of seats for the kids although they never even sat down.
The kids really liked the body boards. Ryan and Katie used them the most. The waves were perfect on our second beach day when there was more wind late in the afternoon. Chris helped them on and gave them a push as a big wave approached. They loved it. Tyler loved it too. Even Spencer and Megan had fun on them.
Luke just loved the beach. Sitting in the beach chairs, running into the waves, stealing the other kids beach toys, wading into the water with Grandpa, going on walks, being pulled around on one of the boards... he just never got tired of any of it.
The little cousins were fun to play with. Chris played with them for a long time helping them run away from the waves and jump in the shallow water. What cuties.
On the last day we picked up a Skim board and found the perfect stretch of sand and shallow water. Chris and Ryan had fun practicing.
Even at the beach Matthew was hardly put down. Someone always wanted to hold him, usually Grandma. He smiles so much now when you talk to him that it seems he's always grinning. Matthew really never went in the water but still was plenty sandy by the time we went home everyday.
When the kids were tired of the water they started to dig. They made big holes in the sand, soliciting help from aunts and uncles. Then they tried to fill their hole with water. Even Luke was excited and willing to help. We laughed each time he filled up his little cup and bounced it around until there was nothing but a few drops to put in the hole. He didn't mind and neither did we. It kept him busy for an hour.
Seriously, so much fun to be AT the beach. Makes me want to go back!

Oh there is nothing quite like the beach. Makes me want to take a trip to Destin. We've heard so much about it. Looks like we may be heading to the beach next weekend. I hope so.
LOVE that beach! Thanks for all the stuff you brought so I could sit in the shade and hold Matthew and Derek. Love all the pictures. I would go back in a second!

Haha, Dan, you're funny. I thought, did he just throw out some random number or did he actually count them?, and so I counted, and there are 33! But seriously, they are all great and we love seeing them all! That beach is gorgeous. Love the color of the water and the white sand. I'm with you Lisa on not loving the hassle it takes to get there, but once there, I'm in heaven. I wish we had a place like that in Ohio! haha, yeah right.
Wow, that is funny. I had no idea it was that many and yes it was hard to narrow them down! But since this is mostly for me, I wanted them all on there! (Plus, Chris is hoping now the Waltons will want to do this vacation sometime in the next few years.)

Thanks for all your beach equipment. It definitely made the beach that much better. 33 is nothing, by the way. My most recent Paris post has around 70. It's hard to choose when you have such a great camera and so many things to take pictures of!
LOVE ALL the pictures. Looks like so much fun. I like your new bangs. You totally look different. In a couple of pics, I had to biggie them to see if it was you. Nice new looks. What a fun vacation. Can't wait till Oct.
I can't believe how crystal clear the water is? It makes me want to make a quick weekend trip down there. It looks like you guys had a blast.
